Spice Tour
26 days · 56 Country · 150 CitiesZanzibar is also known as Spice Island due to numerous spice farms, especially cloves. Clove plantations were established across the archipelago, particularly on the island of Pemba and Unguja by the Sultan Said in 1832. Island’s tropical climate and rich soils were perfect for growing a range of spices and the archipelago became the world’s single largest clove producer.
Zanzibar is a home of many tropical spices such as cloves, cinnamon, black pepper, ginger, turmeric, cardamom, nutmeg, lemon grass and vanilla. Our tour guide will lead you around the Kizimbani farm and share a short story of each spice. You will be able to taste and smell them to try guessing their name.
Visiting this farm will give you an opportunity to go to the nearest village where you will get unforgettable experience of interacting with local people during live cooking and palm weaving.
You will be able to participate in cooking and preparing typical local food alongside local cooks. Be prepared to be amazed by spicy flavours and fresh ingredients.
Please note that you can do only a spice tour or you can combine it with live cooking.
It is a half day trip that normally starts at 9:00am ends at 3:00pm. This is a guided tour which includes transport, fruit at spice farms and water.
