5 Days Tanzania Safari to Tarangire, Lake Natron, Ngorongoro & Lake Manyara
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast in your hotel, you’ll depart towards Tarangire National Park, and with an approximate 2 hour drive you will arrive at your destination. Tarangire is considered to be one of the best places in Africa where you can have a close encounter with the elephants. Not only because there are thousands of these giant animals present, but also because they are used to the presence of the vehicles. From the open roof safari car you will be able to absorb the landscape and watch the animals. The park is also a home of buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests, closely followed by a range of predators such as lions and less frequently leopards and cheetahs. Tarangire is also famous for its tree climbing pythons and huge baobab trees. In the late afternoon you will leave the park and drive to your accommodation in karatu, for a delicious dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Tarangire to Lake Natron
After breakfast, you will venture to Lake Natron area and start your adventure with a walk along the west bank of the lake towards Ngare Sero Waterfall. This refreshing hike after a long drive will feel amazing and the majestic view of the Ol Doinyo Lengai will provide opportunities for incredible photos. Lake Natron is one of two alkaline lakes in that area of East Africa and perfect place for flamingos. During the breeding season, more than 2 million lesser flamingos use the shallow lake as their primary breeding. The flamingos' nests are built on small islands that form in the lake during the dry season. Seventy-five percent of the world’s populations are born on its shores. After that spectacular encounter, you will finish your day by spending the night at a lodge that is located right on the edge of Ngorongoro crater.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater
Early morning, after breakfast, you will descend to Ngorongoro Crater floor for a game drive. The massive collapsed volcano crater is a home of over 25,000 mammals ranging from the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard to
Spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs and more than 500 bird species. You can hardly find wildlife protected area as dense and varied with life as Ngorongoro crater. After picnic lunch, you will descend into the crater floor for a game drive. Later in the afternoon you will be taken to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, we will drive you to Lake Manyara National Park, one of the smaller wildlife protected areas of Tanzania. Lake Manyara is a shallow alkaline lake created by a depression within the Great Rift Valley. It provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s bird life, with more than 400 recorded species and it is renowned for the abundance of flamingos. If you are lucky, you will have an opportunity to see some tree climbing lions. After the late afternoon game drive, you will be escorted to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Return to Arusha
Early in the morning, you will have another game drive within the crater. Afterwards, we start the drive to Arusha, where our adventure ends.
